Technology tools should be chosen because they meet the instructional goals for the lesson or unit to be used in the classroom.

Explore one or more of the following resources for Elementary grades that may be useful for globalizing your curriculum. Open a Google document or a similar type of document to capture your reflections so that you can share with your grade level team later. Note that the reflection questions also refer to additional NCEES rubric elements to assist you in your response. You can access the full NCEES rubric document here.

Asia Society Photo of the Day : The Asia Society features a different thought-provoking photo each day from somewhere in Asia.

Asia Society Kids features online games and activities with an Asian focus.

BBC Students features learning activities and games on global topics as well as resources on current events and issues from around the globe

Carolina Navigators: A program of the UNC Center of Global Initiatives which provides K-16 teachers and students with global education resources created by Carolina students who have international expertise.

Doors to the World;Tools for Teaching Global Literacy: Doors to the World is a partnership of educators dedicated to making global children’s picture books and teaching resources available to PreK to Grade 3 teachers.

Global Oneness Project : The Global Oneness Project is an online multimedia platform with a collection of interdisciplinary stories in the form of short documentary films, photo essays, and articles that examine global themes with a humanistic lens. Also included on the site are lesson plans, which the project says are intended to facilitate critical thinking, reflective writing, and in-class activities.



Global Schoolroom : A site by and for teachers. The goal is to enable educators who want to deeply engage in global issues with their students by pooling our resources of assignment ideas, project ideas, and other classroom materials. This site was created for sharing and collaboration.



Google Earth allows students to see close-up maps of much of the world and to create their own maps as well.



International Children's Digital Library: The mission of the International Children's Digital Library Foundation (ICDL Foundation) is to support the world's children in becoming effective members of the global community -who exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas- by making the best in children's literature available online free of charge.



WGBH's Fin, Fur and Feather Bureau of Investigation (FFFBI) takes children 8 to 13 on virtual missions to solve international detective stories set around the world. Developed in collaboration with National Geographic



Whyville is a virtual city where students can participate in activities and play educational games with others from around the world.
